  • Xbox 360 might get HD-DVD drive

    October 21st, 2007 at 12:11:46 PM

Alright, so not too long ago I reported on a potential new SKU, the Xbox 360 Ultimate which was supposedly going to be the Elite, but with an integrated HD-DVD drive. That, so far hasn’t happened, but this new announcement could give way to just that. Or, they could just bundle the current separate HD-DVD drive with an Xbox 360 Elite since they probably have a ton of HD-DVD drives just sitting around. Although the drives have been selling like crazy thanks to all the rebates, price cuts, and other deals.

  • Novint Falcon force feedback controller makes actions feel real

    October 1st, 2007 at 8:24:37 PM

Sure, you might think you have seen this before, and you would almost be right. Chances are what you actually saw was a version of this device that costs a ton more. This model however, the Novint Falcon, costs a fair bit less and more or less does the same stuff. Not only can you work within a 3D space with this controller, but you can play games and they feel real. Like there is a “launch the chicken” game where you pull back and then release, basically stretching out the chicken like a rubber band, and as such, the further you pull back, the more resistant the controller gets. So sure it could be fun, and sure its cheaper than its $1k+ predecessor, but its still really expensive for a simple gaming controller. $239 is just too much for something like this, I mean a Nintendo Wii is only $10 more.

  • YOBO NES Clone System Plays Old Favorites

    September 20th, 2007 at 7:32:38 PM

Some of our fondest memories of our childhood involve time spent playing games like Mario Bros 3 and Duck Hunt on the beloved NES. Nowadays if you want to relive those precious moments you can get your self an emulator, but there is something to say about actually playing those games using a controller and your TV. Unfortunately, NES consoles in good condition are hard to come and we don’t recommend people with asthma or breathing problems to even bother because you’ll spend a good amount of your energy blowing on game cartridges and the system. That is why the YOBO NES Clone System is a great alternative. While it doesn’t have the same endearing design as the original NES, it works just the same and it will let you play your old NES games and it can even use your old controllers, though the system does come with two controllers. And not to mention, the $35 price tag is also pretty sweet.

  • Sony Dual Shock 3

    September 20th, 2007 at 7:26:43 PM

How long has the PS3 been out now? Well, it’s been out long enough, and the people have been crying out for something. Well, other than lower prices and better games. They’ve been wanting rumble. Finally, after all of the rumors and speculation, it’s official, it’s coming. During the Tokyo Game Show, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Kaz Hirai confirmed that they would in fact be releasing a the Dual Shock 3. It looks pretty much identical to the current SIXAXIS controller, only now it will have that rumbling sensation that we all know and love.

  • Sony releases backwards compatibility tool for PS3

    September 8th, 2007 at 9:55:47 PM

Sony has just released a tool that will inform you of which titles will work with your specific PS3. This doesn’t just work for the 80GB model, you can select which version you have and search for a specific title to find if it works or not. While I am still disappointed in Sony for removing the hardware emulator from the console, it’s good of them to at least provide us with some means of tracking which games we can play. Otherwise you’ll just stick in a game and prey that it works the whole way through.

  • Protective Mask for your Sony PS3

    September 3rd, 2007 at 11:22:59 AM

This Protective Mask for your PS3 has to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen yet. You’ve got interchangeable faceplates for the Xbox 360 and I’ve seen a few cool cases for the Wii, but the PS3 has been lacking in the customizing front. The skin will attach to the top of your PS3 and will look freaking awesome. It looks like for now the only place you can pick one up is eBay. Luckily they seem to only be asking around $15 for one.

  • Xbox Live - Sale on Games!

    August 31st, 2007 at 1:35:13 PM

I like playing games, in fact I spend a lot of my spare time doing just that. The problem with games is that they cost money. However, if you’ve got an itch for a new game or two, Microsoft might just be able to satisfy you need a little cheaper this weekend. Microsoft will be running a sale on four of their Xbox Live titles. Small Arms, Zuma Deluxe, Gauntlet and Dig Dug can all be had for only 400 points each, which is half off the regular price. The sale will start at midnight on Sunday and go until 11:59 GMT on Monday. I’m not sure if this is some kind of Labor Day sale or what, but it’s always good to see cheap games.

  • What will become of the 60GB Sony PS3?

    July 14th, 2007 at 7:50:12 PM

Boy Sony, you really know how to muck things up don’t you? First, you announce that you’re cutting the price on the 60GB PS3 and releasing an 80GB version here in the US. Great, that’s awesome. Then you tell us that you’re not going to make anymore of the 60GB model. Then you retract that statement. What’s going on?

  • Wii Classic Nintendo Games

    February 6th, 2007 at 12:35:08 PM

With the re-release of many classic Nintendo titles for the Wii, it can only be expected that you’d want to play those games the way they were meant to be played. With your old NES controller. The RetroPort from RetroUSB will allow you to do just that. You can also order a RetroPort for your SNES controllers as well. In no time you’ll be transported back to that magical time known as the late 80’s and early 90’s. At $19.99 a pop it’s a lot cheaper than most accessories you’ll buy for game consoles these days. You can preorder yours today, and expect them to ship sometime in the next month.

    Xbox 360 coming to China

Microsoft is on its gear again. This time it will try to bring the XBOX 360 to China within couple months as it waits for authorization from the Chinese government. At this moment, Microsoft is also working with Chinese internet service providers and computer manufactures to prepare for the launch.

On an email to Reuters, Andres Vejarano, regional marketing director at Microsoft's Entertainment & Devices Division for Asia & Greater China commented "We take a long-term approach to each market and continue to evaluate the China market for opportunities,"

  • A Way to Backup Wii Games

    January 17th, 2007 at 9:39:38 PM

Well,  it was just a matter of time before someone sat down and tried to figure out a way to bacup those newly released Wii games.

    Wii Logo TM

This was brought to our attention from a post on Wii Newz.  It said that the process took many hrs and was done on a PC.  The poster mentioned that they used a specific DVD drive plus specific software.
