Das Keyboard Quiet Mechanical Keyboard

For those of you who tend to do a whole lot of typing in your line of work, surely you would know that there is nothing quite like a responsive keyboard with fantastic tactile feedback. Having said that, those projected keyboards are novelty devices that are unable to beat the real deal when it comes to churning out those reports as requested by the upper management. Single folks can just give this particular story the once over, or skip it altogether as they do not have to deal with typing in bed or in the bedroom while your partner is doing his or her darndest best to fall asleep. What you need is definitely something that works great as a keyboard, but is whisper quiet. The candidate to fill this pair of shoes would be the new Das Keyboard Quiet Mechanical Keyboard.

With the introduction of the Das Keyboard Quiet Mechanical Keyboard, it would mean that Das Keyboard’s popular range of high-performance mechanical keyboards has just gained another family member, where it is said to be able to reduce audible feedback to a minimum without sacrificing on performance. In fact, it claims to deliver one of the best tactile experiences. This latest newest member of the Das Keyboard family will boast of Cherry MX Red key switches that are combined with a new Quiet Key Design. In a nutshell, it would require far less force to actuate keys, where we are looking at 45g instead of 55g to 60g for majority of the keyboards out there, and users would then end up with a softer, more tactile and “whisper quiet” typing experience.

Daniel Guermeur, creator of the Das Keyboard and CEO of Metadot Corporation, said, “Professionals who use modern communication tools like Skype, GoToMeeting, Google Hangout and other means to interact during the workday need a quiet keyboard during their calls to help reduce background noise and distractions. People working in open space environments have expressed the same need. The growing demand for a keyboard that could deliver such an experience is what motivated us to design our newest product. The Das Keyboard Professional Quiet is the total package, delivering outstanding tactile feel and a whisper quiet typing experience. ”

You will be able to pick up the $ 149 Das Keyboard Professional Quiet in the following layouts – US, UK, German and Nordic.

Ricasol Bra Dryer

Ladies, now this is something that you would want to check out considering how bras are extremely delicate and expensive items to own, so keeping them bras in good condition is a prerequisite. Enter the Ricasol Bra Dryer, where this unique home appliance would be able to dry your bras without damaging them. It will take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to get your bras dried, where it will make use of an infrared light which will gently warm up your bra, while evaporating the moisture that is located in the bra padding and fabric.

With the Ricasol Bra Dryer, you can kiss goodbye to drying your bras on a line, or hanging them up on a shower bar or door knob, or to take the long hard route of using a hair dryer. Bras with underwires especially will need to be treated with special care, as the delicate components within are easily damaged using conventional drying methods. In a nutshell, the Ricasol Bra Dryer is a snap to use and stash away thanks to its relatively small form factor.

LG to demo 5-inch unbreakable and flexible plastic OLED panel at SID 2013

LG to demo 5inch flexible and unbreakable plastic OLED panel at SID 2013

LG’s got quite a bit in store for us this week at SID’s annual display exhibition in Vancouver. In addition to that 55-inch curved OLED TV we first heard about last month, the company will be demonstrating a very nifty 5-inch OLED panel. Created for mobile devices, the display is constructed of plastic, making it both flexible and unbreakable — certainly a welcome quality when it comes to smartphone design.

Also on display will be 5- and 7-inch HD Oxide TFT panels. That first size features a bezel that’s just 1mm wide, enabling a borderless frame when installed in smartphones. Both displays are lightweight and consume less power than their traditional equivalents. Finally, LG will have a 14-inch 2560×1440-pixel laptop panel on hand, along with LCDs designed for use in refrigerators and automotive dashboards. We’ll be live from the SID show floor later this week — check back for our hands-ons with all of these new LG panels, and quite a bit more.

ASUS Transformer Book review: meet ASUS’ first detachable Ultrabook

ASUS Transformer Book review: meet ASUS' first detachable Ultrabook

For a while, it looked like ASUS’ Transformer Book would turn out to be vaporware: after debuting to much fanfare a year ago, it encountered numerous delays, and even missed the crucial holiday shopping season. Now it’s finally here, priced at $ 1,499 with a Core i7 processor, a 13.3-inch (1080p) screen and a detachable keyboard dock housing both a spare battery and a 500GB hard drive. The problem is the timing: Intel is about to launch its new Haswell chips, and here’s the Transformer Book, arriving on the scene with a lofty price and a year-old CPU.

It’d be easy enough to tell you just wait for a refresh, which is how we’ve been ending all of our PC reviews in the weeks leading up to this year’s Computex. But it’s still worth investigating whether the Transformer Book (aka the TX300) is a compelling idea. Though we’ve seen many tablet hybrids (the Surface Pro, etc.), they’ve mostly had smaller 11-inch screens. So what happens when you take that form factor and stretch it to accommodate a bigger screen — and a more spacious keyboard? And how does it compare to all those convertible options out there, like the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 or the Dell XPS 12? Let’s have a look.

Doctor Who Dalek Eye Stalk Flashlight

No one likes to live in the dark permanently, and there is nothing quite like the feeling of the dawn breaking right after a long night. Having a flashlight handy around is always a good idea, as you can never quite tell just when there might be a blackout. Since you are mulling over just which flashlight model to purchase, you might as well get one that aligns with your love for all things Doctor Who, where it will come in the form of the $ 29.99 Doctor Who Dalek Eye Stalk Flashlight.

This is a flashlight that lives up to its namesake as it resembles a Dalek eyestalk, and it is a good thing that this is nowhere near as threatening compared to an actual Dalek. Each time you turn on the Doctor Who Dalek Eye Stalk Flashlight, it will play some Dalek sound effects for that added touch of realism to accompany your imagination. The Doctor Who Dalek Eye Stalk Flashlight will be powered by a couple of AA batteries, and among the phrases muttered are, “You are the Doctor. You must be exterminated.”, “You must be exterminated.”, and “Scan reveals nothing.”

Smartphone Apps You Need To Download

I use my smartphone for just about everything business and personal these days. In fact, there is a slight chance that I spend entirely too much time finding new apps to download for said smartphone. In doing so, though, I’ve found some that are helpful and some that are just utterly weird.

In general your smartphone can do much more than you probably know or realize but with the right apps it can be even that much more helpful. From scanning barcodes to identify items and price comparisons to conference calling and scheduling to using it take measurements. Whether an iPhone or Samsung phones, the app selection is nearly endless!

SnapGuideYouTube is usually the go to site for videos, but if you want to change it up and find user-created “how-to” guides, then Snapguide is the app you need. You can learn how to make anything from beer or beef jerky to perhaps a wine cork wreath and anything else you might want to make.

Songza – There are many music apps available but this is one of my new favorites alongside Pandora. The app “plays the right music at the right time.” You can tap to pick a playlist based on your mood or location as well as decade and genre. Furthermore, you can save all your favorite playlists and share them with friends.

Pocket- It’s simple, the app easily allows you to save content to read later, but it’s not bookmarking. You don’t an Internet connection to access the content which is a definite perk. The app works alongside hundreds of other apps that can be accessed across multiple devices. In short, it works like a DVR.

Slightly Weird Apps

Ghost Radar – Available in two versions, the app helps locate paranormal activity. It sensors measure vibrations, electromagnetic fields and sounds. It works on most devices and enables ghost hunters to easy locate activity. Several spirit-seeking mobile apps have hit the market in the past few years, including EVP Analyzer, which records sounds believed by some to be voices from the beyond and more.

Profanity / Swear Box – Surely some people may not find this weird and rather helpful and I’m not sure where exactly I stand but the app enables users to learn new expressions in a foreign language. The only hitch, all the words it teaches are swear words. So again, some may find this useful while others will file it as weird and unnecessary.

Quiet Candle – The app stimulates a candle and casts a gentle glow from the display screen of the phone. There are six types of candles to pick from. It inspires a calming effect. The app isn’t free, its .99 to download.

Admittedly there are far stranger apps then the ones we listed and we’ll do another list about those in the near future. There really is an app available for just about anything – things that you may not have even thought would be possible or even necessary. That being said, what are some of the strange and weird apps that you have seen or used? Share with us in the comment section below.

OnStar FMV

I don’t own a GM vehicle. I have a Dodge. I also have CAA because since I have a Dodge, I’ve never been able to get OnStar. Until now. Like the OnStar system that has been available in GM cars for 15 years, the OnStar FMV mirror links the vehicle to OnStar Advisors through a built-in cellular device. No I know we all love gadgets, but the wiring and installation of OnStar FMV requires special technical skill, so make sure you have it installed by a professional. Once you’ve got it all hooked up just push the blue button and you’ll be able to speak to an Advisor who can help you choose the right subscription. OnStar subscriptions fees start at $ 18.95 a month or $ 199 a year.

OnStar FMV (For My Vehicle) brings our powerfully simple services to a whole new audience — people whose vehicles weren’t originally equipped with OnStar.1 Now, nearly anyone can be safely connected in ways they never thought possible, with services such as Automatic Crash Response,2 Turn-by-Turn Navigation3 and Hands-Free Calling.4 Most important, you can talk to a real person whenever you need a hand, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
