Symbian and ARM based handsets getting multi-core processors
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:37:06 PMIt was only a matter of time till the power saving, low heat, multiple core processors were going to find their way into the mobile market, and now with the Symbian and ARM partnership its happened. Well they haven’t hit the market yet, in fact that’s not expected to happen till 2010 (I bet it comes a lot sooner, those predictions are always conservative). The ARM SMP or symmetric multi-processor is now supported in the Symbian OS. It looks like the first dual core processor to hit mobile devices will be the ARM Cortex A9 MPCore which was announced just recently. The new multi-core technology will allow for battery life savings as each core will only be accessed as it is needed, and it should also allow for better multi-tasking on your mobile devices. All in all its good to see mobile technology heading in this direction, and with such a great mobile OS too.

gOffice Word Processor for the iPhone
September 13th, 2007 at 5:09:36 PMWe’re super psyched after having unlocked our iPhones, and thus more in love with the iPhone now than ever. Anyway, here is a very useful site to bookmark on your iPhone. gOffice allows you to create Word documents on your iPhone. You can email the files to others, or have gOffice send the documents by U.S. mail for a $3 fee. They also have a bunch of commonly used letters for you to work with, because the less you have to type with using the iPhone, the better - though to be fair, we are totally comfortable with its touch sensitive keyboard.

MOTO Q music 9m is a fine unit
August 22nd, 2007 at 7:40:03 PMIt’s more than just an update to the Q9, they’ve changed up the keyboard, gone up to Windows Mobile 6 and added support for V CAST Music. What was good about the new Q music 9m? It is sexy, the new keyboard makes typing much easier and quicker, V CAST Music is a welcome addition, as is Docs to Go. The new phone also has a cool interface that can be used to access all of your extra content from a single location. It’s not all sunshine and daisies, as the lack of a dedicated volume control and the lack of V CAST are minor flaws that can be annoying. The largest downfall of the device comes in the way of slow internet speeds. It took nearly twice as long to load CNN.com than it did on an BlackBery Curve running on the EDGE network. That right there would be a deal-breaker for me.

Blackberry 8830: Review Pictuires
April 5th, 2007 at 7:41:13 PMIt looks like someone leaked a few press shots of RIM’s first word phone. I think I’ll have to agree with The Boy Genius on this one, they were probably “leaked” by the marketing department just to get some hype going. And look at me, passing along the hype to you, man they’re good.

Sony Ericsson W51S Phone
February 3rd, 2007 at 6:59:42 PMSony Ericsson W51S Phone engineers seem to have drawn some inspiration from Apple's catalogue of computers when it comes to designing their most recent entry-level handset, the W51S. The front of this clamshell features a mesh-like appearance that brings back instant memories of the PowerMac G5 sans optical drive and USB ports. Apple loyalists will probably thumb their noses at this association, claiming it is nothing of that sort, but it all depends on perspective. Features of the W51S ain't half bad for a budget cellphone, boasting a 2 megapixel camera, a 2.7" color display, 120MB of internal memory, and a Memory Stick slot. Choose from black, gold, and pink colors when it is released on the Japanese KDDI network this spring at a yet unannounced price.

Nice Sleek Cell Phone But it is not an Apple
January 21st, 2007 at 3:13:53 PMWith the introduction of the new Apple iPhone we have noticed around the blogs that one is hard pressed to find anyone talking about a sleek cell phone ( cellphone). Yes maybe everyone is just waiting for their new Apple to solve all their problems but wait... We have found a slim sleek cellphone and yet I’m thinking that this KDDI au cellphone, called the MEDIA SKIN, is a particularly slim design, the sharp edges, matte casing, unassuming keypad and crisp UI all add up to a great looking handset.

Cisco Sues Apple Over Use of iPhone Name
January 11th, 2007 at 2:36:24 AM
The Apple iPhone was unveiled earlier this week after 30 months and millions of dollars in top-secret development. But the sleek new iPod-phone combination could wind up costing the company a lot more.
Cisco today announced that it has filed a lawsuit to forbid Apple from using the name "iPhone." It obtained the iPhone trademark in 2000 after the acquisition of Infogear, which previously owned the mark and sold iPhone products for several years.
