Google+ expands SMS support to over 41 countries, lets you stay social over text

On the off chance your cell phone is of the decidedly dumb variety, Mountain View’s engineers have worked out an alternative solution to keep your Google + circles intersecting. Initially available only for the U.S. and Indian markets at the time of the social service’s launch , the search giant’s expanding the reach of its SMS feature to over 41 additional countries, giving users the option to post updates, as well as receive and reply to notifications via text.

AT&T lights up LTE network in St Louis, expands coverage in Staten Island

AT&T continues to slowly spread its flavor of 4G LTE throughout the land, tonight crossing two St. Louis and Staten Island off of its spring / early summer expansion list . The timing is favorable for anyone that gave up high speed wireless internet access for Lent, however everyone else still waiting for access will be looking on in jealousy

Google’s Flight Search engine adds 500 international destinations, more on the way

Google’s Flight Search — which was conjured up after its acquisition of ITA — has been giving Kayak and Bing Travel a run for their respective dollars here in the States, but an airline search engine is only as good as its reach. This week, the company announced that over 500 airports outside of the US are now being included in the results (but, sadly, only if you start in the US), and while no specific promises were given, Google says that it’s “working hard on expanding [its] global coverage and adding more routes in the future.” Oh, and for those looking to disconnect in Samoa , APW totally made the cut here.

Verizon lights up its 200th LTE candle, plans to double 4G coverage by year-end

You’ve come a long way, Big Red . For a network that launched a little over a year ago , VZW’s LTE service is about to hit a high water mark, blanketing 203 markets come tomorrow’s planned expansion to an additional seven territories. But the nation’s top wireless dog isn’t taking this milestone as a moment of respite; the carrier’s aiming to double its current footprint by end-of-year 2012, boosting its tally to a potential 400-plus areas

AT&T continues 4G LTE expansion, plans to light up eleven markets by early summer

AT&T’s 4G LTE isn’t the new kid on the wireless block anymore, but that’s not to say the network’s leapfrogged its growing pains. With almost two years to go before it reaches that end-of-year 2013 expansion target, the carrier’s flipping the switch on an additional eleven markets across the US, as well as completing coverage in New York City.

ZTE reaches for the sky, aims to double phone shipments in 2012

Talk about a New Years Resolution: ZTE’s head of handset strategy Lv Qianhao, in an interview with Reuters , mentioned that in 2012 his company expects to double the number of smartphone shipments made last year, as well as expand its Windows Phone efforts. While we’re not completely certain as to what that specific number was, Lv stated that it far exceeded its target of 12 million

Windows Phone Marketplace now accepting app submissions for China, five other countries

It wasn’t long ago that the Windows Phone Marketplace hit 50,000 unique titles , and very soon, developers may find themselves with a whole lot more exposure. Microsoft’s virtual store is expanding once again — this time to Argentina, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru and the Philippines

US Cellular reassures us of LTE plans: first tablet by March, smartphone by April

Last we heard, LTE was supposed to land on US Cellular last November , but months passed with nary a peep on the carrier’s progress. Finally, a little ray of light shone from its official Twitter account as it confirmed today that high-speed mobile broadband is still on the radar, but its deployment was simply pushed back to the end of March, when we’ll see the first LTE-capable tablet arrive. For those craving to have the service on something a little smaller, the company also told us to expect the first smartphone in April
