But no matter which side of the 3D debate you fall on, everyone agrees that bulky active shutter 3D glasses are a major impediment to widespread adoption. Apple still exploring haptic touch for iPhones, iPads

(Credit: Patently Apple) Haptic technology allows users to “feel” buttons on a touch-screen device by providing localized feedback when users’ fingers touch button or control areas. A patent application filed in late March showed Apple’s version of haptic technology , a process that would use piezoelectric actuators under the display to provide feedback. A new patent application, uncovered by Patently Apple , shows that Apple is taking its haptic inquiry a step further

Dell sneaks quad-core Ivy Bridge CPUs into a couple of Vostro, XPS, and Inspiron systems

(Credit: Dell) The only laptops available right now with Intel’s new third-generation Core i-series CPUs ( also known as Ivy Bridge ) are those that use high-end quad-core Core i7 processors. That means the vast majority of mainstream laptops won’t get updated CPUs until the dual-core versions of Ivy Bridge are released, probably sometime in June. Dell already has a few Ivy Bridge laptops in the Alienware M14x, M15x, and M17x gaming systems, and now the company is adding a couple of Inspiron models as well

National Geographic Talk Abroad Lite review: At least it’s cheap

(Credit: Josh Miller/CNET) I don’t mean to be a hater, but if the National Geographic Talk Abroad Lite weren’t attached to the Talk Abroad international cell phone SIM card, I’d have to wind caution tape all around my review. So why wouldn’t you run from this handset, given my less-than-glowing recommendation?
