Patent application hints at Voice Actions for Google TV

Android on your phone can send texts, perform searches, set alarms and execute plenty of other tasks with little more than a simple voice command. Google TV is, for all intents and purposes, just Android blown up to fill your 42-inch TV — so it would only make sense that Voice Actions might one day come to the Mountain View-branded set top solution. Well, a patent application filed back in September hints that just such a thing is on its way

Logitech’s Q3 2012 report confirms Revue is sold out, Harmony remote refresh ‘in the coming months’

Logitech’s Q3 earnings for the 2012 fiscal year don’t have many surprises since the company already revealed it was dropping out of the Google TV team . In prepared remarks, company management confirmed it is completely sold out of new units, closing the door on any users still trying to nab a $99 Revue (who shouldn’t be too heartbroken, since Vizio is promising a second gen unit is on the way at the same price). There is promise however, if you’re looking for a new Harmony remote model, while interim CEO Guerrino De Luca says the company is late in providing a successor to the best selling Harmony One and other models, resulting in a 30 percent drop in sales, it plans to strengthen the lineup “in the coming months.” In other segments, it’s seeing growth in those iPad accessory keyboards , for more details check the press release embedded after the break or in the PDFs linked below

LG Google TV and Magic Remote Qwerty hands-on

While Samsung waits to debut its take on the Google TV platform, LG is already showing off its hardware, including a new remote control. For LG’s part, it has decided to blend the QWERTY needs of a Google TV controller with its existing Magic Motion remote gesture control and scroll wheel technology

After Vizio gave the world a preview of its PC and tablet plans it also announced plans for new HDTVs and a couple of set-top boxes, so we couldn’t resist traveling back over to its Wynn-based lounge to view the beasts in their natural habitat. We won’t make too much of it, but if you read last year’s hands-on preview , unfortunately much of this is similar, as we mentioned when they were announced — much of this tech was originally planned to ship in 2011

Dijit launches remote control app for iPad, gives you something to do during all that boring TV watching

If all those TV shows haven’t completely eroded your short term memory, you may recall the time we spent with Dijit’s remote control app , way back in early December. The company tells us that it’s finally ready for prime time, taking advantage of the extra screen real estate the Apple tablet has to offer. The app lets you use the iPad to control your Roku and Griffin Beacon
