Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE user guide slips out, tells you what you already know

Whether or not Sprint’s version of HTC’s One X is indeed shipping on May 18th remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: it’ll almost definitely hit store shelves prior to Sprint’s LTE network going live. Following the Galaxy Nexus’ footsteps in that regard, the EVO 4G LTE seems to have no shame in its game, and the 219 page user manual has floated out for those interested in getting a head start on understanding their future superphone. The PDF’s linked in the source for your perusal, but don’t go digging for any of life’s secrets.

Hands-on with Kyocera Hydro, a waterproof Android 4.0 smartphone (video)

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Kyocera smartphone for the US market, and if you’ll recall, its previous two attempts — the Milano and Echo — didn’t manage to sway many consumers. Today, the company is adding two new Android handsets to the deck: the Hydro and Rise . True to its name, the Hydro plays off of Kyocera’s experience in the waterproof segment, and while it’s not mil-spec, the phone’s able to withstand submersion at depths of up to one meter for a half-hour.

Nielsen: Over 50 percent of US mobile users own smartphones, Android and iPhone sitting pretty

Smartphones crossed an important milestone in March, based on Nielsen’s estimates. Just over half of cellphone owners in the US — 50.4 percent, to be exact — had a smartphone of some kind, making dumbphones the minority for the first time. Sprint CEO takes pay cut as investors voice concern about cost of iPhone deal

Sprint Nextel’s $15.5 billion gamble on Apple’s iPhone will apparently lighten CEO Dan Hesse’s proverbial wallet by $3.25 million this year. That’s how much compensation Hesse agreed to give back to help placate investors unhappy about the high cost of the company’s iPhone deal. Securing the iPhone has already paid dividends for Sprint in terms of sales

Samsung Officially Announced Galaxy S III

Samsung has officially announced the third generation of Galaxy S today. The device has been the main focus in the web with countless leaked and rumors. Now we are able to confirmed the device features with a 4.8-inch 720p HD Super AMOLED display into an 8.6mm thick chassis, while running Samsung’s 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 4 Quad paired with an 8-megapixel camera.

LG’s Optimus L7 brings ICS, 4.3-inch screen to market starting today

The high end edition of LG’s new L-Style Optimus line is ready to roll, as the company announced the Optimus L7 is available in various “major” European and Asian locales. In case it’s been forgotten in the midst of its fellow L-branded smartphones like the L3 that launched in March , the L7 is an Android 4.0 handset with a 4.3-inch screen and 8.7mm-thick frame.
