ASUS rolls out firmware update to UK Transformer Primes (update: US, too)

Less than 48 hours after teasing us with promises of upcoming ” awesome new features, ” ASUS is now delivering the refresh to Transformer Primes in the UK. Via its Euro Facebook page, the Taiwanese outfit has announced that all TF201 owners in the United Kingdom can expect to see the OTA update anytime now.

Lightroom 4.1 release candidate squashes bugs, adds 5D III support

A new release candidate of Adobe’s photographer-centric imaging application Photoshop Lightroom released today aims to squash bugs in the major release that debuted about three weeks ago . Simultaneously, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.1 Release Candidate adds support for the Canon EOS 5D Mark III digital SLR. Beyond the Canon 5D III support, there are six main changes noted in the new release candidate, described by Adobe as follows: Point Curve adjustments made in Lightroom 3 and before have been restored.

Samsung Galaxy S ICS-like ‘value pack’ upgrade officially released in Korea

The so-called Value Pack upgrade that was leaked for original Samsung Galaxy S devices after the company announced they would not be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich (it was later given a passing mention in the Galaxy S II ICS upgrade notes ) has been officially released, at least in Korea. The official Samsung Tomorrow page has a link to Gingerbread and Froyo upgrades for the Galaxy S, as well as the Galaxy K and Galaxy U phones

Kindle Fire update brings sharing, ‘print replica’ textbooks, more to tablet

Amazon has started pushing out an over-the-air update that’ll bring a slew of new features to its budget Kindle Fire tablet . Topping the list of upgrades is new sharing functionality that makes it possible for readers to send passages and notes from within the comfort of a book via social networks like Facebook and Twitter by highlighting and clicking “Share.” Also on the slate is supplemental material powered by Shelfari, letting users find character descriptions, glossaries of of common terms, locations and author information from inside a text. Version 6.3 also brings “print replicas” of textbooks, which include linked tables of contents and Whipsersyncing of notes and highlights

Fuji: New firmware for X-S1, X100

Japan’s Fujifilm Corp. has released updated firmware for two of its digital cameras–the Fuji X-S1 ultrazoom and the large-sensor Fuji X100 –bringing a variety of improvements and new features to both. Release of the Fujifilm X-S1 firmware update had been previewed previously in a statement from the company, noting that it would aim to reduce impact of a known problem with sensor blooming by raising ISO sensitivity in conditions that are more likely to cause the problem
