Huawei Ascend G 300 doesn’t settle down at the FCC as it’s only for tourists

Huawei was cycling past the FCC’s ominous Washington bunker and dropped off a basket of muffins and its latest phone. The Ascend G 300 U8815 is the latest handset to undergo the Area-51 style autopsy by our boys in blue. Sadly they weren’t feeling generous enough to take the usual array of pictures, so we’ve had to do with pouring through the test reports.

As far back as September, security researchers discovered a “critical” bug in many HTC Android handsets that exposed users’ WiFi credentials to any hacker who cared to look. The flaw affected recent devices like the Thunderbolt and EVO 4G all the way back to the Desire HD .

As far back as September, security researchers discovered a “critical” bug in many HTC Android handsets that exposed users’ WiFi credentials to any hacker who cared to look. The flaw affected recent devices like the Thunderbolt and EVO 4G all the way back to the Desire HD . The researchers promptly notified HTC, but the manufacturer waited a full five months before acknowledging the flaw publicly a few days ago.

Motorola Xyboard 8.2 WiFi-only model streaks through FCC, reveals little

Remember that Motorola Xyboard 8.2 WiFi-only model that just went on sale ? Well it just paid a visit to our friends at the FCC who promptly tore it down and took a few shots — you know — in the name of science . The pictures show the main board, the front and rear camera modules, various flex cables, the rear housing and display chassis, the battery, the capacitive digitizer and screen, the speaker and both antennae (WiFi / Bluetooth plus GPS).
